Neil Geikie

Neil has worked in the legal profession since 1983. Neil has extensive experience in transactional work and litigation, and prior to taking over the practice of Hogan Geikie Poole in 1995, Neil worked in both large and mid tier firms in Sydney.

Neil holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He is a qualified Court Arbitrator and has strong negotiation and mediation skills, drawn upon many years of experience with a large variety of legal disputes in many different legal arenas. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia and is a Member of the Law Society of NSW and the Law Council of Australia.

OUTSIDE OF THE LAW

Neil has been involved in a number of charities and non government organisations over the years, as a board member or pro bono lawyer. Some of those charities include the areas of mental health and homeless people.

Neil currently chairs the board of the Playing Healthy Foundation, a community initiative of the Sydney Children’s Hospital, whose objective is the prevention of obesity and disease in young people across Australia.

Neil has been instrumental in establishing many research scholarships in NSW and the ACT, for the prevention of disease in children and adolescents.

Neil has been a NSW Inter School Mock Trial Judge for approximately 13 years and judged the NSW semi finals and finals.

In addition, Neil has been a Law Society guest speaker on various areas of law to community groups, professional organisations, schools and university students. He has been an examiner of law graduates in their final exams at the NSW College of Law.

Neil has a lifelong interest in and commitment to preserving the natural environment and the ecology of Australian plants and wildlife. He is a member of WIRES and is involved in the rescue of native animals and the education of the community for preservation of the natural environment.

Rachel Clarke

Rachel has worked in the legal profession since 1995. She is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia and is a member of the Law Society of NSW. Rachel has broad experience in both litigation and transactional law. Rachel initially worked with a mid tier Sydney corporate firm and commenced as an employed solicitor with Hogan Geikie Poole and later became a partner in 2003.

OUTSIDE OF THE LAW

In addition to being a Lawyer, Rachel is a qualified viticulturist and horticulturist having graduated from the University of Melbourne and pursues these interests in her spare time.

Rachel loves a variety of sport, but these days only as a spectator. She is passionate about rugby union.

Our Support Staff

Margaret Morters and Nicki Zaat are our main support staff. They provide valuable secretarial and personal skills to us here at HGP. They are both highly experienced and competent in both commercial transactional work and litigation. Between them they have in excess of 50 years experience within the legal profession having worked for a variety of large, medium and small legal firms.

Margaret and Nicki appreciate the potential anxiety client’s may feel during their case and they will move mountains to ensure that urgent deadlines for the completion of client work are met.
